It’s just been one (two? three?) of those weeks, with the two-day headaches, and the feeling like I’m about to fall over. On the train coming home from the office this evening, I read the same line over and over again in my book till I gave up completely and let my weary eyes close.
Happiness is the city, though, and when the train let out at Leicester Square, I climbed the steps up and up into the still-light and the busy to-and-fro of Thursday evening in the springtime. In the cool blue, a renegade cloud had slashed the sky in white.
I am baking tonight, with Dinah Washington, because it feels good.
