Man, academic writing drives me cUh-RAy-zEe. I’ve been fighting on and off with a book of criticism for maybe a week now—really, the only time the fighting is off is when I have to put the book down because I get so aggravated with it. Then I got to the part about “the elaborate prefiguring of the autobiography’s unknowable nothingness,” to which the only possible response, after reading the sentence one more time, and then another, and then maybe swearing, is: YOU CAN SUCK MY UNKNOWABLE NOTHINGNESS.

By some burp of the universe, is this site authored by Astella from IJ 1989-1992 & CJC 1993-94? If it is, I bumped into Henny in Covent Gdn today & we talked about you!

tym: no, but, generally grad school is good. come on, man!! three months of summer vacation?? one month of winter vacation?? okay, so there's that pesky thesis thing... but it's, like, i dunno, so many weeks of solitary confinement--after ONE AND A HALF YEARS OF THROWING PARTIES. grad school is the best racket around. :-)

kk: mmm. brunch. i like brunch. i foraged and snacked throughout midday today, is that counted as brunch? it was good, in any case: a little babaghanoush and toasted pita; smoked gouda and an oat biscuit drizzled with chestnut honey; a sweet tangerine. yah! wins all round.

oh, y'alls hanging out in chicago... makes me want to go to unicorn!!! (thanks, yumei, for the memories...)

kk --- I say hi to Beefy too! Can you email me her email address? And all the details of your brunch, naturally.

Susan --- I knew your older sister. Do you have her email? If so, can you send it to our darling Stellou, who can then forward it to me?

This blog post is clearly at the centre of the reunion universe.

Stellou --- This message is for you. Wah, I am almost an IJ girl, tankyu. I think that is quite an honour (no, really). I frequently wish I had a more interesting school background, instead of that predictable institution with the dark blue school uniform. I am such a walking stereotype. And everybody rolls their eyes or gets very quiet when I mention my alma mater! *wah*

tym: sorry, are you talking about the elite girls' school located at the corner of stevens road and whatever? HA HA HA. anyway, eh, raffles predictable meh?

also, you will recall that when you revealed your dirty secret to me and jacq, i believe jacq neither rolled eyes nor got quiet (we is i.j. girls after all, there is no such thing as "quiet"), and in fact she said: "yah, you have an aura of cleverness about you." you see, we are not only welcoming, we are also happy to tell you things to your face.

I haven't disappeared but am quietly & industriously (hmm not very IJ-like...) trying to obtain your email address from the Henster. When you mention Jacq do you mean the Jacq Lim?

Ren hello!!! :)

the easiest way looks to be your plus one. and it ain't the most unpleasant ! not that I wouldn't like to be une gonzesse chinoise de Singapour, but that would still let you have a "plus one" opportunity in your universe meeting. I'd rather be the plus one. merci chérie :-p
