Right now I am cooler than anyone else, because I have my new phone and new service and man oh man it is good to be connected again. I’ve texted you and you, and did you get my message?

At the phone place yesterday, when the guy asked if I knew which phone I wanted, I said, with the insouciance of one too concerned with loftier goals than to worry about such fiddly details, “Oh, I don’t care so much about the phone, what’s the cheapest one you have?” One ugly little hunk of plastic later, I was saying, “Hum. . . and what’s the next one up?” So now I have this lovely silver flip-thing and it works pretty much everywhere I need it to work, and I set it up so the ring tone is all drums and trombones and trumpets and cymbals playing Stars and Stripes Forever. There’s syncopation, there’s chords, there’s even a key change. So call me already!, because I can’t wait to strike up the band.

With ringtones like that, who needs enemies? :)

I find it hard to believe anyone in Singapore would be caught dead with a Majulah Singapura ringtone, btw. Or perhaps that might constitute an unapproved use of the national anthem, ha ha.

Thanks for outing me and my job :P

I was gonna post about how I don't think the Majulah is high on anyone's for converting into a polyphonic ringtone ... but then I Googled it and whaddya know? Ringtone Gallery has more versions than I thought the world needed. They tend to be a little martial in beat, but check out the jaunty one under the "Country" category :)

WAAAAHHHHH. Increbidle. Don't waste time!!! Have you downloaded already?? Of course the first one I clicked on was the one called, like, "Majulah Singapura + Cute." :-D
Thing is, that tune is really not so funny at all, whereas the "Stars and Stripes Forever" immediately has me marching and twirling my baton. It even has the part with the piccolo, you know, when, like, an orchestra plays "Stars and Stripes Forever," and then it comes to the piccolo part, the piccolo player in the orchestra gets to stand up and, um, piccolo? YAH. That part.
Everytime my phone rang today I just had to larf and larf. (Um, dunno if the people around me were laughing also lah.) (And if they were, dunno if they were laughing with or at...)
